Specific Development or User Licenses can be used to define the precise conditions for which IP can be developed or used.
On the Sci-Mate, suppliers can decide if they wish to use such licenses to protect their own research interests, while still distributing valuable technology into other disciplines or commercial projects.
Researchers interested in requesting an Item with a Specific Development or User License must specify exactly how they wish to use the Item. The supplier then has the opportunity to evaluate the request, and proposed development or usage license. If the request is accepted, then this condition is included as the Restricted User License along with all other conditions of exchange.
