Maximum:$25,000 Seed Grant Program--Klinefelter Syndrome KS&A supports grants in the area of sex chromosome aneuploidy, with particular emphasis on
sex chromosome trisomies (XXX, XYY, XXY). We invite all qualified scientists with faculty
appointments or the equivalent, at universities, hospitals and research institutions, to submit
applications for research grants. Research topics appropriate for KS&A include basic biological processes governing
development, animal models for these disorders, genetics, clinical studies, studies of
reproductive health, epidemiological studies, environmental toxicology, and social and
behavioral studies. Applicants are encouraged to submit letters of intent. Applicants will be
contacted if more detailed information is required. Proposals recommended from initial review
will be reviewed and voted on by the Board of Directors which meets next in July, 2009.
Letters of intent should be submitted no later than June 1, 2009. The research review committee
meets on June 3, therefore any letters of intent that may require follow-up should be submitted
well in advance of the deadline. Grant awards will be announced in August. Eligibility
Grants are made only to nonprofit organizations certified as tax exempt under Sections 501(c)3
or 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code and are classified as “not a private foundation” under
Section 509(a). Hospitals, educational institutions, and governmental institutions meeting these
requirements are eligible to apply. KS&A does not make grants or loans to individuals. Limitations
As a general practice, KS&A limits funding to $10,000- $25,000, and provides single year
funding. KS&A refrains from funding:
Annual funds, galas, or other special-event fundraising activities
Capital campaigns/renovation projects
Debt reduction
Emergency or disaster relief efforts
Indirect/administrative costs
