Items in the Material Transfer Exchange (MaTE) are basically anything that academic scientists either have or need.

Content is separated according to its research or commercial nature, then classified according to the headings below and placed within selected research disciplines or other descriptions.

Contents

[edit] Research and Commercial Distribution

Researchers can list items that are available for free or at cost to other researchers, or that are available commercially to other researchers or industry.

Industry representatives may list commercial items of value to scientists.

Commercial items can be services or products for which a set fee can be set and charged, or may be technology transfer, which requires negotiation to establish a fair price and the exact conditions for exchange.

Research tools can also be well-known items that need simple and rapid distribution, or can be things that require more involved negotiations to establish collaborative development opportunities.

[edit] Research Items (Material, Service or IP)

Research tools, requirements, products and technology:

  • animal models (drosophila, mouse, nematode, yeast, bacteria, virus, etc, recombinants, strains, etc),
  • antibodies (for research, theraputic, and/or commercial application),
  • cell lines,
  • data (microarray, epidemiology, real-time PCR, sequence, computational, etc),
  • DNA and RNA products (eg, plasmids, other vectors, siRNA, Aptamers, cDNA libraries, oligos, phages, etc),
  • IT tools (software and hardware),
  • reagents (proteins, lipids, antigens, media, drugs and other chemical compounds, solutions, etc),
  • samples (patient data, blood, tissue, etc).

Services:

  • administration and support (conference organizing, grant applications, manuscript preparation, technology transfer, etc),
  • analysis (crystallography, FACs, mass spec., micro array, statistics,
  • animal services (recombinants, fertilization, microinjection,
  • cell biology (sorting, hybridoma, primary cell supply, stem cells, embryology, transfectants, recombinants, etc),
  • IT support and services (data analysis, visualization, programming, hardware design, etc),
  • specific training (courses, packages, materials, information, etc),
  • molecular biology (sequencing, purification, assays.

[edit] Items Wanted

Any Research Item (see above list) that a researcher may have and be willing to distribute under the conditions the lister proposes.

[edit] Consultancy

Any knowledge based service that can be made available under specific conditions defined within the listing. This may include:

  • advice, audit, and/or analysis (of a specific situation),
  • knowledge based services, research, and/or reporting (of a general topic or non-situation specific endeavour),
  • personlized training (coaching, seminars, courses, speaking, or other customizable instructional consultancy)
  • or any other form of free-lance service provision.

[edit] Project or Collaboration Proposal

Laboratories or industry, generally with an available resource or skill, may define:

  1. A project outline, describing the intended purpose and goal of the project;
  2. What they have available;
  3. What is required from potential partners or collaborators; and
  4. The proposed conditions / arrangements for engagement.

[edit] Grants and Funding

Any potential opportunity for the financial support for research and/or development projects.

[edit] Jobs and Training Positions

Any type human resource need within the research and development industry.

[edit] Training Courses

Educational opportunities.

[edit] Seminars

Notification of open or closed presentations.

[edit] Conferences

Any local, national or international conference of interest to academic researchers.
