Article Editors are intended to control and manage the content of specific Articles. To do this, they are given mechanisms and permissions that help them prepare Articles within their defined Context.  Article Editors receive automatic updates of contributions to ensure the quality and relevance of contributions, and ultimately make decisions relating to publication.  In order to manage the Intellectual Property of other Members, Article Editors are assigned a copyright license by contributing authors providing such contributions are assigned authorship in any subsequent publication (see Privacy Policy).

You may create an Article without deciding to be the Editor, but if you do decide to be the Article's Editor, try to avoid deleting or otherwise stonewalling the contributions within your page.  Point out where facts are not supported by evidence (including referencing) and resolve controversy in the Discussion Page or The-Forum (do not allow it to dominate the Article).  In particular, be kind and encourage new users to contribute- it takes a short while to get used to Wiki-editing.  Direct your mini-community to resources that help your Article develop content, style and quality.  Clever Article Editors encourage and bring together specialized content from a variety of view points. This can require a high level of tolerance at times as conflicts in understanding need to be resolved. Not so clever Article Editors try to dictate content, which only limits the Article's potential.

[edit] Guideline

This Article is a Sci-Mate Guideline intended to help Members interact positively on the site. Members themselves should define all Community Guidelines, either by defining a change here, in the discussion or within the Sci-Mate_Open_Forum. Before making such a change, it may be better to define something as a proposal within the Article or Open Forum, which can then be considered by other Members in the Discussion Page.
